Concert of the State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble "Hutsulija". A group promoting Hutsul art
The ensemble was founded in 1939 in the then Stanislaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk) by the famous Ukrainian composer Yaroslav Barnykh, the Hutsuliya ensemble promoting Hutsul folk art.
"The ensemble's repertoire also includes works by Ukrainian, Russian and foreign classics. During its existence, the Hutsul Song and Dance Ensemble has performed more than 10,000 concerts in various countries of the world: England, Germany, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Italy, Canada."
The ensemble was founded in 1939 in Stanislaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk) by the famous Ukrainian composer and cultural worker Yaroslav Barnych. In May 1940, the ensemble presented its first program in Stanislavov. In 1941, with the outbreak of war, the ensemble ceased to exist.
In the late summer of 1944, after the region was liberated from the fascist invaders, the ensemble continued its activities.
The ensemble's initial creative staff numbered 50, including a mixed choir, a dance troupe, and a folk orchestra.
In 1956-1970, Mykhailo Hrynyshyn raised the ensemble to a new level. Since the early 1980s, Ukrainian folk artist Prof. Petro Knyazevych has been the ensemble's artistic director.
