The CSKF’s guest at our cinema will be the well-known, beloved, and highly regarded actor Sławomir Orzechowski, who appeared in Piotr Domalewski’s film *Ministranci*, among others. The post-screening discussion will be led by film journalist Krzysztof Spór. Tickets with a membership card cost 12 PLN; regular tickets cost 17 PLN.
A group of teenage altar boys, frustrated by the indifference of adults and Church institutions toward social injustice, decides to implement their own unconventional plan for moral renewal. Armed with youthful rebellion and their own interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, they set up a listening device… in the confessional, to get to know their neighbors better. Masked like Zorro and with ambitions worthy of Robin Hood, they become judges in their neighborhood world, helping the needy and meting out punishment for sins. However, their mission turns into a dangerous game, and the boys, adhering to their own idealistic code of honor, begin to walk a fine line between good and evil. Real life in the housing project blends with a mission straight out of superhero comics, but instead of capes, the heroes wear cassocks.
The film balances between drama and dark humor, and its style resembles a rap manifesto more than a school catechism. “Ministrants” is a film that isn’t afraid to ask difficult questions about religion, community, guilt, and redemption—but it does so without preaching, instead with ease, emotion, and the power of an authentic message.
