It’s time for the Sailors!
The guest of honor at our April meeting will be Maciej Krzeptowski*—an outstanding yacht captain from Szczecin, a doctor of natural sciences, an ichthyologist, and a traveler, as well as an Honorary Ambassador of Szczecin. He is an extraordinary figure whose life and work are inextricably linked to the sea and the exploration of the world.
Captain Krzeptowski will talk about his experiences from the farthest corners of the world, his scientific work, and his passion for sailing, which has accompanied him for decades.

Maciej Krzeptowski—participant in the first Polish Antarctic expedition (1976–1977) and the round-the-world voyage on the yacht “Maria” (1972–1974). Author of travel books and an active sailing advocate associated with Western Pomerania.
He began sailing in 1959 at the AZS Yacht Club in Poznań. Later, he sailed with the “Pogoń” Maritime Sports Club in Szczecin. Participant in the Atlantic crossing during the Bermuda Race aboard the “Dar Szczecina” (1972). From 1972 to 1981, he worked at the Marine Fisheries Institute in Świnoujście. He sailed on fishing vessels to West African fishing grounds and participated in the First Polish Antarctic Marine Expedition in 1975–1976.
From 2000 to 2003, he participated in Ludomir Mączka’s second circumnavigation of the globe aboard the yacht “Maria.” As captain, he sailed the yacht from Mar del Plata (Argentina) to Poland.
Author of museum exhibitions: “Nature of the Sea,” “Poles in Polar Expeditions,” and “Maria Across the Pacific.”
Author of the books: “Around the World on the ‘Maria’ Twenty Years Later,” “Half a Century and Three Oceans,” “I Stick to the Sea,” and co-author of “My Name Is Ludomir” and “The Salted King.”
Honored (together with L. Mączka) with the Kolosy 2003 award in the sailing category, the 3rd prize in the 2003 Voyage of the Year, the Szczecin Voyage of the Year 2009, the Voyage of the Year 2009 distinction for the “Iceland 2009” expedition, and the Szczecin Voyage of the Year 2015 and the Voyage of the Year 2015 distinction for the Narvik 2015 expedition.
He was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for his work in support of deep-sea fishing.
In 2019, he was honored with the Ludomir Mączka Szczecin Sailing Award for his lifetime achievements in sailing.
