A special event!
We’ll be at the Castle Bookstore.
You’ll be able to meet Aunt Fika there all day long.
April 2 is one of the most beautiful days of the year for all of us. The holiday was established in 1967 to draw attention to the needs of young readers and to promote literature and illustrations created for them. Each year, a different country that is a member of IBBY—the International Board on Books for Young People—hosts the event. The theme of International Children’s Book Day changes each year, as does the themed letter to children and adults, which is translated into Polish.SCHEDULE:
11:00 a.m. Fika Reads
A family reading session,
for children ages 5 and up
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM Fika Recommends Books
Come to the bookstore and buy books!
5:00 PM Fika Reads
Family reading session,
for children ages 5 and up
The goal is to promote reading, children’s books, and reading sessions.
The event was organized by Malgorzata Narożna, a literary activist, reading promoter, and director of the Fikuśny Literature Festival. For her work, she was honored with the PS IBBY Award in the 2018 Book of the Year Competition in the category of promoting reading, as well as the Mayor of Szczecin Award for innovative activities in support of culture in 2022.
This is a celebration of children’s books. Since 1967, this celebration has been held around Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, April 2, to ignite a love of books in every child. Let’s build a world full of wonders together, book by book! Let’s read to children.
Funded by the City of Szczecin.
Under the patronage of the Polish Section of IBBY
