“The Safety Spectrum—Autism in Emergency Situations” is a practical training program designed for members of uniformed services and first responders, focusing on how to respond safely and effectively when interacting with a person with autism.
During the session, participants will learn key information about autism in emergency situations and how to communicate with a person who may be experiencing sensory overload, anxiety, or difficulty understanding instructions directed at them.
An important element of the training will be practical workshops featuring sensory stations, allowing participants to experience how an excess of auditory, visual, tactile, and olfactory stimuli can affect concentration, the ability to follow simple instructions, and communication.
The session will also provide an opportunity to discuss specific intervention scenarios and guidelines for collaborating with the parent or guardian of a person with autism.
This project is implemented by the Pełnoprawni MY Foundation as part of the Społecznik Program, initiated by the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
