Lecture: “We Stand Guard on the Oder.” Szczecin 1946 – Context, Course, and Significance

The Stanisław Staszic Pomeranian Library in Szczecin and the Szczecin Branch of the Polish Historical Society invite you to the next event in the #ZoomNaHistorię series. The meeting with Dr. Radosław Ptaszyński, Professor at the University of Szczecin, will be devoted to the “We Stand Guard on the Oder” rally, which took place in Szczecin in 1946 and was one of the most significant events of the first months of Poland’s presence in Western Pomerania. The lecture will explore the context of the rally’s organization, its course, and its political and symbolic significance in the first years following the end of World War II. The event will be accompanied by a small exhibition featuring materials from the collections of the Pomeranian Library and memorabilia provided by private individuals.
