Tribute to Leonard Cohen

"Tribute to Leonard Cohen" is a phenomenal journey through the greatest songs of this outstanding Canadian artist, arranged with great sensitivity and respect for the originals. The artists have put together a program that delights not only with beautiful guitar arrangements and the delicate sound of the piano, but also with atmospheric backing vocals that lend Cohen’s songs a classic, authentic depth. During the concert, the artists will also share anecdotes about the legendary bard, as well as little-known facts and stories about this outstanding singing poet. We’ll hear the most beautiful songs in Polish, including “Alleluja,” “Dance Me to the End of Love,” “In My Secret Life,” and “I’m Your Man.” Furthermore, they are the only group in the country to perform “The Future” in Polish. The event has been delighting audiences across the country, cementing the position of the artists who make up the group Yanistan as some of the best interpreters of Leonard Cohen’s songs in the country. The concert will feature Wrocław-based musicians from the band Yanistan—renowned singers, including: Janusz Kasprowicz—leader of the band Projekt Volodia, who has performed hundreds of concerts on the country’s biggest stages, released eight albums, and collaborated with many renowned artists, including the outstanding actors Mirosław Baka and Stanisław Górka. A cultural organizer, founder, and director of festivals: the Włodzimierz Wysocki “Wołodia pod Szczelińcem” Festival, the Wrocław “Pieśniarze Niepokorni” Festival, “Lviv Days in Wrocław,” and artistic director of concerts, including the recurring “Night of the Bards” during the Festival of Three Cultures in Włodawa. Stanisław Marinczenko—a “multi-faceted” musician and multi-instrumentalist (including guitar, piano, accordion, mandolin, and harp)—is active in many musical genres; in addition to literary songs, his music can be heard in Irish-inspired styles. The duo is accompanied by the excellent musician Bogdan Bińczak, who comes from traditional jazz circles and is equally at home in a wide variety of musical genres. He supports the musicians by playing percussion instruments, the melodica, and providing backing vocals and polyphonic vocal parts.
